Harvest time is upon us!
This summer has been very warm and dry heading into harvest. The clusters are smaller than usual, resulting in fantastic concentration of flavour and colour. We have already started harvesting Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling from Niagara and the fruit is looking superb. We expect County fruit to start coming in within the next week. Thanks to our tireless vineyard crew and to the weather conditions, we expect a record crop this year. Our winemaking team is already hard at work sorting fruit, destemming Pinot Noir, pressing Chardonnay and looking after ferments.
2014 County Chardonnay now available
Many of you have been asking about our 2014 County Chard. You will be happy to learn that it is finally available. Come by the winery to pick up a few bottles or order it through our online store. The previous vintages of our County Chard have received the highest praise locally and internationally, consistently winning Platinum at the National Wine Awards.
Communal Pick Details
We would like to invite you to participate in our communal picking day on Saturday, October 1st (weather permitting, we will keep you updated should this change). This FULL day event, which is always a highlight of our year, starts at 9am sharp with a few hours in the vineyard (complete with pizza snack!) and continues with a late lunch at approximately 2:30pm.
If you are interested in receiving our updates about this event and joining us that day, please click here to register.
This is a family affair, and as always, children are very welcome; however, we advise against bringing dogs, as you will have a large vet bill 24 hours after your dog has consumed a few pounds of grapes!
Picking requires many knee bends and spending lots of time close to the ground. If you feel your knees are not up for this please still join us as we have many important tasks in the winery and field that do not require significant knee bends. For those participating in picking, you should come prepared with sunglasses/protective eyewear, comfortable farm shoes, and your energy and enthusiasm. You are also welcome to bring work gloves and a stool to sit on.
Looking forward to your being part of our experience here! As is our custom, after picking we will serve a decadent late lunch of roasted pig and plenty of vegetables from our garden paired with our wines from previous vintages.
