Chardonnay Magnums, Full bodied Pinot noir, Oyster Sundays, Six Barrels for Six Chefs

We have had a slow start to the growing season, of no big concern as we still have a lot of growing season ahead. The vineyard is disease free and in a happy place. I also have to remind myself that we were further behind at this point in the 2008 and 2009 vintages. The wines from those vintages had wonderful tension, nerve and vibrancy. The nerve wracking life of being a farmer!

New Releases

To celebrate summer finally arriving we are releasing our 2010 Chardonnay “Cuvée des Amis”. We only made a single second fill 500 litre barrel of this wine. It started out as an experiment to push our boundaries further, the result being truly magical. We have bottled it in magnums only as I feel the best way to enjoy great wine with friends (its namesake… Amis) is from Magnums.
I am also very proud to finally release our 2010 Niagara Pinot Noir. This is our biggest and most full bodied Pinot noir to date. It reminds me of the 2007 in weight; however the fruit and tannin structure are more refined and elegant. Ideal for those red meat, summer barbecue days, or as a heart-warming wine when the slow roasted braised meats emerge from the oven in the fall and winter.

Oyster Sundays & Pizza

Jon Bill from Catch Restaurant will now join the team from noon till 6 pm on Sundays only, to shuck oysters that were still in the Ocean Wednesday…possibly even Thursday.
Daniel Usher from Ortolan restaurant somehow continues to raise the quality bar of our pizzas each weekend. The pizza oven summer hours will now be from 11 am till 6 pm Saturday through Monday.
