Harvest time is upon us!
This summer has been very warm and dry resulting in a very early harvest for us. The clusters are also smaller than usual, resulting in fantastic concentration of flavour and colour. While the weather has helped, it’s the amazing work my whole team has put into the vineyard that has the biggest impact on the quality  We have already harvested Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (both fermenting and looking terrific) and are now patiently awaiting for Riesling and Cabernet Franc to finish ripening.
2017 Calcaire now available
The 2017 vintage of Calcaire is very enticing both aromatically and on the palate.  Lots of lemon, lime and spiciness on the nose. The palate is beautifully mineral driven with a lovely long finish. Delicious on its own…even more delicious when paired with fresh seafood dishes or lighter fare. Available exclusively from the winery. We deliver from our door to your home or office (Free delivery in Ontario for orders of $90 or more). Mixed cases welcomed. Click here to order.
Communal Pick Details
We would like to invite you to participate in our communal picking day on Sunday October 14th (weather permitting, we will keep you updated should this change). This event which is always a highlight of our year, starts at 10:30 am sharp with a few hours in the vineyard (complete with pizza snack!) and continues with a late lunch at approximately 2:00pm.
If you are interested in receiving our updates about this event and joining us that day please email Marlise at marlise@normanhardie.com
This is a family affair, and as always, children are very welcome; however, we advise against bringing dogs, as you will have a large vet bill 24 hours after your dog has consumed a few pounds of grapes!
Picking requires many knee bends and spending lots of time close to the ground. If you feel your knees are not up for this please still join us as we have many important tasks in the winery and field that do not require significant knee bends. For those participating in picking, you should come prepared with sunglasses/protective eyewear, comfortable farm shoes, and your energy and enthusiasm. You are also welcome to bring work gloves and a stool to sit on.
Looking forward to your being part of our experience here! As is our custom, after picking we will serve a decadent late lunch of roasted pig and plenty of vegetables from our garden paired with our wines from previous vintages.
Cheers!
