As a challenging year comes to a close, I would like to recognize and thank each and every one of my dedicated staff for their extraordinary efforts. Their energy, grit, ability and willingness to embrace change on a moment’s notice – all while maintaining a sense of humour – played a huge role in “making 2020 work”. As the late Nelson Mandela famously said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” At a time when everything is so much harder, you made the impossible possible.
Throughout my career, I have had many great mentors and employers who have generously shared their knowledge, time and truly cared about my development. Taking from their lead and example, I have endeavoured to do the same and hopefully a little better. Today many of our employees and returning guests see the winery as a great incubator for growth. As part of my commitment to employee development, our winery’s annual “En Primeur” Employee Scholarship Program awards three employees each with a $2000 scholarship towards the pursuit of higher education at a trade school, college or university. Congratulations to Alvin K, Sheneka W and Joey E.
While the pizza oven is closed for the season, we will be offering fresh PEI oysters and our in-house cold smoked trout daily. In the new year we will be offering some delicious hearty hot food to be enjoyed outside, next to our warm bonfires on weekends. Our local Food and Clothing bank is in desperate need of clothing for kids and adults. I will be spending Sunday in the GTA and would be happy to collect from your doorstep. If you have any clothes I could pick up, please email Erica at erica@normanhardie.com with an address and telephone number. Place the clothes in a garbage bag on your front doorstep and I will collect it. If you have any non perishable food items to add to the bag please do so ..they will be welcomed.
