I hope you and your family are well and in good health.

I was out in the fields earlier this week doing some bud counts and assessing the vineyards for winter damage. The vineyards are in great shape with very healthy canes and a high primary bud count…green through and through. Our amazing Thai vineyard crew have been in two week quarantine are in good health and itching to get out into the fields next Wednesday. With an early frost potentially looming given the mild winter, early spring and a full moon in early May, Mark has serviced the wind machines and we are ready.

As a team at the winery we are focusing on working ahead and working on what we can control in a safe working environment for everyone. The goal is to be best prepared in the fields, winery and pizza oven when there is a return to the new normal. This approach also allows us to keep our core team fully employed while the tasting bar is closed (touchless curb side pick up is available).

Erica and Tyler have been busy hiring our summer staff. We have a huge number of returning employees and all of our new employees have come highly referenced from past staff members. I am focusing my time in the vineyard with Mark and quality control in the cellar. That being said, I noticed that there were indications that malolactic fermentation has just started in our Chardonnays… this happens naturally every year just after the spring solstice…mother nature is all powerful!!!

We have a delicious lineup of wines including some older vintage 6 bottle pack options we can deliver right to your door (touchless drop off). Free home delivery for orders $90 or more in Ontario, very competitive rates elsewhere out of province. Mixed cases encouraged and welcomed. In a time when you can’t visit PEC, we are grateful we can bring a little PEC magic to your door and table. Click here to order.

Cheers,
Norm and the team
