Spring has finally sprung and our amazing crew of eight vineyard workers from Thailand have returned. Mark, Lou and the vineyard crew are putting in long days de-hilling the vineyard, pruning the vines and setting the vineyard up for a great season ahead. The mild winter meant 100% bud survival and lots of choice when it comes to fruiting canes for this season…amazing.

I have just recently returned from a two-week sales trip to Europe which included ProWein in Düsseldorf. The trip was a resounding success, with our wines now being poured in over 40 Michelin Star restaurants across Europe. The common theme expressed by these top sommeliers was “The quality of your Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays are so close to great Burgundy, however at a third of the price.” Our Calcaire and Cuvée John Bil have been equally well-received and are featured on many wine by the glass lists. Hear more on this from Norm here.

Not only are top European sommeliers embracing our Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays – Andrew Jefford, one of the great wine writers of the world and a featured writer for Decanter magazine, recently wrote this article: “The wine was so refined and choice that I swallowed, greedily.” It truly encapsulates the potential of what we can grow and craft right here from the magnificent terroir in Prince Edward County.

Our wood-fired pizza oven, outdoor patio and John Bil oyster bar are now officially open for the season! Erica and Freddie have done a great job putting together an incredible team to ensure that we continue to raise the bar this season. As always, our oysters are delivered three times a week to ensure we get the best and freshest PEI oysters available in the County. Check our website for current hours.

While we are proud that our wines are being poured in over 40 Michelin Star restaurants across Europe, it is equally important to us that they are enjoyed and celebrated at your table at home. If you can’t make it to the County, we are always delighted to ship directly from our cellar to your door. Free shipping is available and mixed cases are welcome! Click here to order.

Cheers,

Norm and the Norman Hardie Winery team
